Fever Over
Hi all, unfortunately all was over too soon :-( The show was a great success and we couldn't have asked for a better venue. I already have another idea in the pipeline which I may bring forward to September 2010 at the same venue depending on where we end up of course!
Thanks for all your ongoing support and till next time...

Hello everyone, after much partying and jollity it's back to being creative and our journey begins once again on the 1st Feb with rehearsals in Amsterdam. The Fever has been injected with a few twists, so we'll see what happens...

Till Next Year
Just to say a big thank you to all who came to see us at the Plein in Amsterdam. In directing the production I was very aware of the political world Shawn had created and didn't want to bypass the visual aspect. Even though I opted for a basic setting the actor fills the stage emotionally creating an intriguing insight Shawn and his feverish rant.
Our next performance is planned for Antwerp in March 2010. We'll also keep you updated on our next project Theatre Now - more details at the bottom of this blog.
Until then.

The Fever
Why is The Fever a play, and not an essay or a poem or a polemic? It doesn't clearly present how things are or even how they should be; it documents a process, an exchange between "characters" who have strong reasons for their incompatible demands. Its language is firmly rooted in the experience of life and the reality of beauty, but it leads us into a very dark place, where the basis of ourselves is in question and life is an urgent mystery.
Production 2009
Our next production will be The Fever by Wallace Shawn to be staged at the Plein Theater, Amsterdam on the 5th September. Rehearsals begin July.
Jeremiah Fleming will be narrating and his career has taken him to America, London, Belgium and Israel. He's performed at the Actors Centre London with various one man shows and at the Comedy Cafe Amsterdam on the Lucky Strike tour.
Goodbye to the Fringe
Well, our time in Prague was short but sweet. We'd like to thank everyone involved with the production and especially the curious audience members from numerous nationalities who came to see us.
See you soon.

Production 2007
Nowhere Here is journey into the unknown. It explores the disturbing, and at times extreme, personality of Marc; a lost soul in a sea of souls. Flirting with insanity he questions his very existence, mocking, abusing and eventually fearing the very thing he has become.
This production invites the audience to question everything including their own morality. If you find yourself not knowing where you are or where you've been, then Nowhere Here is where you need to be.

Beginning
Well, we're here. Staging our production Nowhere Here at de Cameleon Theater in Holland.
Rehearsals took place in and around Amsterdam and lasted some 3 weeks. British actor Adrian Kennedy played the role of Marc and has performed professionally in the UK and Holland.
As it developed I realized that it could also work as an educational piece bringing it to schools and colleges.
We're also in the process of designing a drama workshop to accompany the production. A tour is also planned for early next year.
Cheers for now.

About ES
English Stage was created with the intention of making theatre accessible to anyone, anywhere. The concepts are simple, minimalist with focus on characters and story. Using limited resources allows us to adapt to our environment and if necessary perform in your very living room.
What's Next?
From January 2011 we will embark on something a little different: a concept called Theatre Now whereby an individual also trades as audience member and actor. To put it plainly the individual's role is that of participant and observer.
You will decide what happens, why, where and who does what, as what is taking place is totally unscripted. A central character is placed on stage and in turn, or even as a small group, audience members adopt roles and interact with the lead actor. The actor then responds to what is happening by acknowledging the approaching participants who, as soon as reaching the stage, become part of the production.
The audience witnessess the performers at work discovering, as they do, the development process: improvising, establishing relationships and essentially experience a performance unfold before their very eyes.
Please note that only actors participate in the action though all are welcome to observe!
